Over the past few weeks, thanks to the Super Bowl, Minnesotans have become accustomed to the phrase, “Bold North.” A catchy tagline used to describe the mentality here in Minnesota.. Especially during the winter months. Many embrace the label, while others, although don’t prefer the frigid temps, live in this great state for a variety of reasons — most notably the people. Dominique and Matt’s wedding is and was one of many reasons why Minnesotans are referred to as the Bold North.
On December 30th, the high temp was – 4 degrees. I’ve photographed plenty of winter weddings, but this particular wedding was straight up cold!
It didn’t matter though..
Matt and Dominique shared their wedding vows at the Cathedral in St Paul. This place is simply mind-blowing. Photographing a wedding in that church was an amazing experience.
Despite the negative temps, these two, along with their brave wedding party, ventured outside on multiple occasions for photos. If you’re going to forced inside due to weather, the Intercontinental Hotel is probably one of the best venues around when it comes to natural light.. We took advantage of all that great lighting as well as all the space in the ballroom area.
Between the Cathedral and the Intercontinental Hotel, I’m not sure if there could’ve been a better combo when it comes indoor wedding photography.
And Lastly, a big thank you to Matt + Dominique for choosing JWP for wedding photography! I will forever remember this wedding for a many reasons 🙂
Thanks for reading and happy Friday!!
