If rain on a wedding day truly means good luck, Carl and Shannon might want to invest in some powerball tickets soon :). Despite the several inches of rain, Carl and Shannon’s wedding went as smoothly as one could considering the monsoon in Minnesota on 5/20.
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to these two by a friend of mine; I believe Carl has been a groomsman in multiple weddings I’ve photographed in the past.
Going into Carl + Shannon’s wedding, we knew that we would have to work with the weather, but at the same time keep everyone warm and dry! Thankfully we were able to use the West End area for outdoor photos thanks to some overhead shelter. We were still able get that “natural light feel” while staying dry!
Later in the afternoon the rain stopped for a few minutes and we were able to sneak outside the Blvd Restaurant in St Louis Park to take some bride/groom portraits. From there we headed to the Golden Valley Country Club. There are so many things I like about the GVGCC: 1) it’s huge! There is so much room in the reception area.. It’s awesome! 2) Lighting! Golden Valley has such great natural light! 3) The Grounds. So many cool places to take photos around the reception site!
In the end, the rain didn’t have much of a say :). However, the rain at the end of the night provided a great photo op!
Thank you again to Carl + Shannon for the opportunity!
